Animal Control

 

Animal Control Officers:

Serve the community by enforcing municipal and state laws and regulations, such as "Animals running at large" and cats & dogs licensing ordinances.
 

Follow up on animal bites.
 

Handling complaints regarding wild and stray animals.
 

Investigate alleged violations of animal cruelty statutes.
 

Impound stray, sick or injured animals and hold possible rabid animals for either quarantine or preparation for testing at the state lab.
 

Investigate suspected rabies exposures.
 

Respond to reports of injured or sick wildlife.

Our Animal Control Officers can be contacted through the Rockaway Township Health Department at (973) 983-2848/2849, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  From 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. contact the Police Department at (973) 625-4000.
