Open Space Master Plan
Rockaway Township was proud to be the second municipality in Morris County to adopt an Open Space Master Plan in 1998. The Plan identified open space land in the community that would be suitable for preservation. Since its inception, the Open Space Committee and the Township were very successful working with other government agencies and non-profit conservation organizations in securing grants to purchase and permanently protect thousands of acres of land in Rockaway Township.
Updates to the Plan
With the assistance of the Land Conservancy of New Jersey and a grant from ANJEC (Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions) the township successfully updated the original master plan in 2013. To view the full plan, please see the Open Space and Recreation Master plan, below.
