Clinical Services & Health Promotion Program
Rockaway Township has forged public/private partnerships with local hospitals and allied health professionals to provide state-of-the-art clinical services and health promotion programs to residents. Quarterly themed health education seminars regarding nutrition, diabetes, stress management and exercise have been planned in cooperation with the Rockaway Township Public Library. Monthly screenings are provided at the Hibernia Health Center, located on Green Pond Road, or at other locations. Please check the
Division of Health calendar for a current schedule of events.
Animal Control & Disease Surveillance Program
The Division of Health provides an
animal control and disease surveillance program. Free rabies inoculations are provided to dogs and cats twice a year. Companion, domestic and wild animal complaints are investigated by the Township's full-time Animal Control Officer. Animal bites to humans or pets are followed up in accordance with applicable state regulations, and potentially rabid animals are delivered to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services' biological laboratory for prompt testing. The Division of Health also provides Rockaway's residents and businesses with important information about animal risks and behaviors, pest control, and the insect and rodent disease vectors present in our area.
