March 5, 1844
On this date in RT history, the New Jersey Assembly Upper
House (later known as the State Senate) voted unanimously to
approve the formation and incorporation of the Township of Rockaway
after six weeks of consideration from when the proposal was first introduced. The Official Incorporation and election of township officers took
place on April 8, 1844.
