April 8, 1844
Rockaway Township held its first meeting at David Menaugh's
tavern. In laying the groundwork for its formation, the townspeople elected
their officers, resolved to raise $200 for the 1844 budget and officially laid
the rules for the importance of capturing and killing wildlife.
