[ARCHIVED] FREE Complete Streets training

Public Notices3-1

Are you interested in learning how your streets can be safer, promote health and help boost the local economy? Come to one of three complete streets training sessions offered by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), the Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and Sustainable Jersey.

These sessions are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about complete streets, including municipal officials, planners, engineers, community groups and the general public.

Complete streets are designed for all users, all modes of transportation, and all ability levels. They balance the needs of drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, emergency responders, and goods movement based on the community’s needs. While improved safety for people walking and bicycling is one of the primary benefits of complete streets improvements, there are many other positive outcomes. Complete streets strategies can help improve the health of a community by encouraging people to walk and bike, bolster the local economy by generating foot traffic in business districts and provide greater mobility options among other things.

This free training will provide an overview of complete streets and the many resources available to assist local officials and community members in advancing complete streets initiatives.

The attached PDF flyer provides more details. The training dates and locations are as follows:
